Meditation Concept
As I mentioned on my first blog that we have 2 both valuable things in life, body and mind. I have mentioned how to take care of our bodies. In this article I will discuss how to take care of our minds. Mind is boss. Body is slave. Mind orders. Then body follows. We cannot have only strong body to make us happy, because happiness does come from our minds.
The body needs nutrition, rest, and exercise. The mind needs them too. Nutrition of the mind comes from the things we see, hear, smell, taste, touch, and sense. The mind needs the rest and relaxation also. But human way of life, we often cannot control most of the things we face. We cannot always see beautiful scenes, hear sweet sounds, smell sweet things, anything else that good. So we should control our minds to tolerate surrounding world. That’s why we must exercise the mind.
Why do we take the exercise to our bodies? Because exercise makes the body be strong. Strong body can do much work and tolerate physical stress. So we won’t get sick easily. The body is tangibles that we can touch. Muscle has the function to force for workout. So we gradually put extra force to the muscle to make it stronger.
The mind is intangibles we cannot see, or touch it. But we can sense it. How can we exercise the mind? The concept is as of the body. The functions of the mind are seeing, remembering, thinking, and knowing. We can develop the mind from its functions.
What is meditation? How to do meditation? We put extra work to the mind by providing the mind to see, remember, think, and know something; such as a clear crystal ball. We saw it at first with our eyes. Then close the eyes. Try using our mind to recall, and think or imagine about it, as clear and as long as possible. You will realize that someone cannot think of that crystal ball as clear as he wants. Sometimes he wanders his thinking to other things, that and that and that. At the first time we may think of a crystal ball as little clear as about 20%. I compare to weight training exercise that we can first lift the weight about 2 kg. If we try harder, we may think of it clearer about 50%, compared to weight lift of 5 kg. Try harder and harder then we can think of that clear crystal ball about 100% compared to weight lift of 10 kg. And we just say another word that we can SEE that crystal ball with our minds.
When we have a workout on our bodies, we should set the target. We can lift the extra weight. So we know that our bodies are stronger. When the mind can know, remember, think, and then see the thing we input clearer. We know that our mind is stronger too. At this point we can sense the mind security that we have not been before. Try it.
